Our Facial aesthetic service is provided by Victoria Worth RDH MSC.  Victoria is highly knowledgeable about the anatomy of the face and understands how to treat it safely. She has been treating patients as a dental Hygienist for nearly ten years and since joining the team at Horfield Dental Care she has built a loyal patient base who consider her to be a compassionate, caring and gentle clinician.

The Journey: Consultation to Treatment

Your initial consultation, can be discussed face to face or via our Online Facial Aesthetics Assessment form which gives you the opportunity to discuss directly with Victoria your concerns and the outcomes you hope to achieve from treatment.

Your visit to us will be a relaxed consultation when pros and cons of any procedure can be honestly discussed and realistic expectations explained. Each person is different, so each treatment is tailored to an individual’s needs and budget.

If we feel during the consultation process that you will not benefit from the treatments available, then Victoria will not proceed.

Treatments can be performed at the same time, if appropriate, however the consultation is totally without obligation and free of charge, so that you have all the facts before your decision is made.

Full prices are quoted before and treatments so there are no surprises and a comprehensive medical history will be taken to be sure the treatment is safe for you.

The treatment: how does it work?

Botulinum Toxin is used primarily to relax facial muscles by blocking the nerve impulses to them. This has the effect of softening, reducing and improving facial lines and wrinkles. It is highly effective, affordable, and available to almost everyone.
It is treated into specific muscles, using extremely fine needles with minimal discomfort.

Is it Safe?

Botulinum Toxin has been used for both medical and cosmetic purposes for over 20 years with no known adverse effects. Like most cosmetic treatments, side effects can occur, some clients report mild bruising whilst very occasionally- approximately 1-3% – experience a ‘droopy eyelid’ both, however, can be corrected or will fade in time. To reduce the risk of complications it is important that anti-wrinkle treatments are administered by highly qualified and trained practitioners in a safe clinical environment.

Will my face look frozen?

No, this is only caused when too much toxin is administered into the area. During your consultation, Victoria will talk you through how the treatment can be administered for safe, subtle effects.

How does it work?

When we use facial expressions like frowning, squinting, pursing our lips we cause the skin to crease. Just like a piece of paper that we fold numerous times eventually a line or wrinkle is formed.

By using Botulinum Toxin we are stopping this process happening. Used soon enough we can stop the lines and wrinkles forming as they can often be more difficult to remove once they are deeply established.

What areas can be treated?

The upper face is the area most often treated with Botulium Toxin.

At present Victoria is providing treatment for Forehead lines, number 11 lines between the eyebrows, crow’s feet around the eyes, which are the most commonly addressed issues.

What can I expect following treatment?

Immediately after treatment, there may be some small areas of redness at the injection sites. Your day can continue pretty much as normal, although strenuous activity should be avoided. A few patients have a minor headache following treatment and some small bruises at the injection sites which resolve very quickly. These can be disguised with makeup if required.

You begin to notice the Botulium Toxin starting to work after a few days but it doesn’t reach full effect until around 14 days. We arrange a review appointment at around that time to make sure the treatment has been effective.

How long do the effect last?

The effects of Botulium toxin are temporary and last from 3-6 months.

Your wrinkles will start to reappear as the muscles regain their activity, and treatment will require repeating at that stage if you don’t want them to!

The longevity of the treatment tends to improve over time as the muscles are being ‘trained’ to relax.
